Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham: On account of Sri Krishna Jayanti celebrations, Srimad Bhagavata Saptaham was conducted at Prashanti Kutiram from 23-09-07 to 29-09-07. Sri Ranganji, son of Mahatma Sri Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal, popular Bhagavat Kathakar, faculty in our Division of Yoga-Spirituality, conducted the saptaham. 2 times discourses, Mula parayanam, special Bhajans were done. The retreat programme was inaugurated by Srimath Swami Raghuveeranandaji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Vivekananda Ashrama, Hubli who also rendered special Sri Krishna Sankirtans. All campus inmates, therapy-and retreat participants enjoyed Bhagavat amøtam.
GANDHI JAYANTHI -02-10-07: Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated with Prabhat Phere, lectures, Inter-religious prayers, and cultural programmes on 02-10-07.

Business Executives Meet 07-10-07 : A business executives meet was organized at Prashanti Kutiram on 07-10-07 which was attended by nearly 50 executives, businessmen, industrialists and media people They attended an a session of Avartan Dhyana–theory and practice.

YOGA MAHOTSAVA -12-10-07 to 21-10-07: Navaratri is a national festival celebrated throughout the nation adoring the Feminine energy – Stri Shakti. The Cosmic Mother is invoked in the form of Maha Durga, Lakshme and Sarasvati and worshiped for nine days. Every where it is celebrated with a great pomp and show. Generally, in the northern states of the country, huge images of Deve is worshiped, whereas, in the south various images representing multiple facets of Divinity are placed in 9 steps and worshiped. Sri Ramakrishna, Mother Sarada Devi and Swami Vivekananda being great devotees of the Cosmic Mother, had a great reverence in the Navaratri Utsav, especially the last 4 days celebrated as the Durga Puja. We in Prashanti Kutiram observed the Navaratri this time between 12-10-07 Friday to 21-10-07 Sunday as “NAVARATRI YOGA MAHOTSAVA” in a very grand manner.
Our students had arranged a very colorful 11- stepped arrangement of dolls and images depicting the definition of Yoga as an evolution of one from animal level –human-Super human-Divine" Human- Divine Personality to Divinity. The lowest step contained a beautiful garden with plants, a pond, a hill and animals. The next step represented various walks of human life. The next one consisted of great mahatmas like Shankara, Ragavendra Swamigal, Meera and the Holy Trinity. The next few steps contained various images like Ganapati, Daksinamurti, etc. The next was Avataras like Rama and Krsna. The next 3 steps contained various images of Deve and the topmost step had Durga, Lakshmi and Sarasvati and above that Rajarajeùvare. Above all was OMKARA.


There was a Kailasha parvata with Shiva in meditation. Also the four streams of Yoga was depicted through images.The Prarthana Mandira was decorated colourfully with flowers and rangoli.There was a grand alter shrine where Kalasha sthapa was done and Durga, Lakshmi, Sarasvati were worshipped. Daily grand Puja in the morning, Arathi in the evening, Lalitasahasranama, Chandi and stotra parayanams were done.
A Spiritual retreat was organized during this grand utsava which was attended by many devotees. The utsava was inaugurated by Srimad Swami Veetabhayanandaji Maharaj, President, Ramakrishna Math, Ulsoor. Dr. K Subrahmanyamji, Former Principal, Vivekananda College, Madurai and renowned educationalist gave talks on various facets of Devi as Yoga Mata during the morning sessions. Prof. N V C Swamyji, Dean of Academics, SVYASA gave series of talks in the evenings on the background, significance and importance of Navarati, Durga Saptasati, and Devi worship. The highlight of the utsava was the visit and satsanga of one great sadhu everyday. The sadhus were Swami Veetabhayanandaji, President, Ramakrishna Math, Ulsoor. Swami Hridanandaji, Ramakrishna Mission, Bangalore, Paravrajika Prajna Prana Mataji, Sarada Vedanta Society, Australia, Paravrajika Atula prana and Citprabha Prana Matajis, Sarada Math, Bangalore, Swami Amritagitananda Puriji, Senior Disciple of Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Parama Pujya Gurumata Amma, Sridharagudda, Swami Yogeshwaranandaji, Ramakrishna Yogashrama, Bangalore, Swami Sadatmanandaji, Arsha Vidya Kendra, Bangalore, Swami Dharma Keerti Saraswathi, Bihar School of Yoga, Munger, and Swami Omananda, direct disciple of Swami Shivanandaji of DLS. On the day of Sarasvati Puja, Kumari Arathi Balasubramaniam, Sarada Devi Adhyatma Mandiram, Bangalore gave a soul stirring satsanga and bhajan session with her melodious voice. Swami Omananda captured the hearts of all inmates with his musical and multi linguistic oratory skills. Sri N. Hariharanji a great Vedantic Scholar, prolific writer from Madurai also gave satsangas on Yoga and Vedanta. There was a music Concert or Special Bhajan programme in the evening of all the days. Swami Amritagitananda Puriji influenced the whole campus with his melting and vibrant Namasankirtana.


Grand Durga Puja and Nava Candi Homa was done on Durga Astami day 19-10-07 Friday which went on nearly for 6 hours. Nava kanya puja, Suhasini puja and Thampati Puja were performed. In the eveing our students under the banner of Sri Ramakrishna Bhajan Mandali led by Prof. NVC Swamiji recited Devi Stotras and Bhajans. On 20th Ayudha Puja was performed in all Departments. On Vijaya Daùami day grand Sarasvati and Dhanvantri puja was done at Arogyadhama. The visarjana was done in the evening and Shanti Jal was sprinkled everywhere.
In the evening our students performed a grand cultural programme, ”Bharata Darshana” at our taluk headquarters Anekal, in which Traditional dances of all states of India like Bharata Natyam, Kathak, Mohini, Garbha, Manipuri etc were performed. Libhi’s Sita Ramayana, Mahishasuramardhini and Gayathri’s Devi dances were the highlight. All students were well honoured. In total Prashanti witnessed a grand Navarathri Mahotsava which charged the whole campus with enormous Spiritual energy. It was the Divine Sakti’s festival and She got it well-organized with her enthusiastic and devoted children of Prashanti. May the Cosmic Mother Yoga Mata bless us all with Spiritual energy, prosperity and wisdom.

Sadbodha retreat at Lansing, Michigan, USA
Bharatiya Lansing temple, Haslett, Michigan, usa organised a two day retreat “Sadbodha” on september 29  & 30, 2007 at the temple premises. Sri Rajiv das, chairperson of the board of trustees of the temple welcomed the participants. Dr. Sripad Raju, spiritual guide of Lansing area directed the proceedings. Sri R.Ramachandra, Smt B.M.Rama of SVYASA, Bangalore, Sri L. N. Sastry, of Yoga Bharati, Detroit and Dr. Chetana desai, physical therapist gave the first day programme consisting of Cyclic meditation, Mind sound resonance technique, bhajan and a talk on  activities of SVYASA & Yoga Bharati.
