- 2007
Governor lauds Integrated approach between Yoga and Music
Inaugurating the 3-days' music festival, Geethanjali-2007
organized by Sri Lalithakala Academy Foundation Mysore, in collaboration with
Swami Vivekananda Yoga University Bangalore. Sri T N Chaturvedi, Governor of
Karnataka, appreciated the comprehensive approach of Yoga (SVyasa) and Music
(Sri Lalithakala Academy Foundation) that could be a role model for such
innovative projects.
The uniqueness of the Festival was the invocation by Kumari
Aishvarya , great-grand daughter of Smt M S Subbalakshmi (grand daughter of Mrs
Radha Viswanathan) who rendered the popular composition of Kanchi Paramacharya
sung by MS at the UNO "Maitreem Bhajatham" on all the three days
befitting the occasion. The tonal quality and the high pitch voice and verbatim
diction of this child-prodigy enthralled the audience by her sweet resonance
resembling M S Subbalakshmi. The nice showers marked an auspicious beginning of
the festival on 6th May 2007 at Mangala Mandir at the lone Yoga Research
University Campus’. Sri T N Chaturvedi paid rich tributes to Swami Vivekananda
for his significant message of amalgamating the best of the East with that of
West. He congratulated Dr H R Nagendra Vice-chancellor of SVyasa who has
followed this message in letter and spirit. He said SVyasa is one the best
Scientific institutions in making this amalgamated approach of yoga and
nadayoga, both leading to bliss. The Governor recollected the importance given
by Mahatma Ghandhiji to M S Subbalakshmi’s music and turned towards the
Minister of Kannada & Culture, Mr Mahadeva Prasad and said, such
collaborations to bring the two ancient traditions of this country need to be
encouraged Conferring the title of Sangeetharatna to Prof T N Krishnan,
he expressed that a child-prodigy has turned as an icon of violin
metaphorically.
Releasing the souvenir of the Geethanjali-2007, Sri H
S Mahadev Prasad, Minister of Kannada & Culture, gave vivid details of the
projects taken-up by the collation Government to promote the cultural activities
of the state like the Music University at Mysore
