Holistic Healing Centers for total health care Delivery
Systems.
HOLISTIC HEALING CENTERS. A total dimension of Health care
Delivery Systems for Bharata. We have two models:
1. To convert the existing Hospitals (Tertiary Care) to HHC
2. To build new HHC
The basic principles of Holistic Healing centers are based on
the concept of Panca Kosas and panca Bhutas We have developed this
into a workable model in our Arogyadhama. We have Yoga as the main stream and
allopathy as an adjunct support therapy.
In this new venture we are contemplating we need to address
two issues:
1. To convert the existing Hospitals (Tertiary Care and
Primary Care) to HHC
1.1 Training and developing of manpower: For the existing
hospitals when we want to expand them to HHCs (Holistic Healing Centers) we
should train all their doctors, nurses, technicians and other staff including
researchers into Yoga Therapy way of life. This course will also include Ayurveda
principles and practice in a nut- shell. All the medical doctors should do
research and hence be given a training in Research methodology. As we want to
base our hospital on scientific research, all nurses should be trained in yoga
Therapy and Ayurveda Panca Karma treatment. We can also employ some of the
Yoga therapists, Ayurveda physicians/ and researchers separately are to
develop a support system.
1.2 Development of Infrastructural facilities: Add the
necessary halls and treatment sections in a different place or on a different
floor. We can work out details of halls needed for Yoga therapy intervention and
for Ayurveda Panca Karma treatment. Seperate research section or an expanded
version of the research section to do original research and stop all drug trials
of the MNCs to help them develop the drugs. Our researcrh should become holistic
in tune with the treatment modalities. Just as professors in Harvard have to
teach, treat and do research we should have our doctors updated for all the
jobs. They should apportion their times accordingly. Suitable infrastructure
should be developed for the same. We should also have a seperate Holistic Diet
center instead of present restaurants in the hospitals. Giving them healthy
foods which could be more tasty than junk foods including principles of Yoga and
Ayurveda ( Gunas and Dosa-based food).
2. To build new HHC
2.1 Manpower, Development: Intensive and extensive
training right from the inception of the project should be planned, for example,
we should have the modern medical doctors who will be manning the Tertiary Care
Hospitals should be made to undergo a PGDYTD (one year) or a Ph D in yoga in our
University. All nurses should undergo a year-long DYT program for 2 years or
PGDYT for one year. All technicians should undergo our MSc on Yoga. All staff
should work with us for at least one year just as any industry trains the raw
engineering graduates to learn the skills needed for the factory.
Through these courses they will imbibe the principles and
practices of Yoga and Ayurveda; develop dedication, commitment, selfless
service to the patients, national awareness and global perspectives.
As super-specialists do not have this type of time, we should limit their
training to do YTOT ( about 2 months) before they start their work in the HHCs.
Big researchers also should undergo a similar course of Orientation. We already
have this type of courses operating in our University. The training is all based
on Panca Kosa development. We can give a certificate towards this end.
2.2 Infra-structure Development: Just as we plan
the Hospital
